A Prayer for Courage

Read the stories of Moses in Exodus 3:11 - 4:13 and the good Samaritan in Luke 10:25-37. Where do you need to respond with courage today?

Gracious Lord,

We thank you for blessing this church, The Salvation Army, with so many faithful and obedient leaders.

For those you have chosen to lead your church in these days, give them courage to follow their calling. Guard them from insecurity and ground them in your truth. We can be confident that you equip those you call with all that they need for this task. You are faithful and you are so incredibly generous, giving your wisdom, knowledge and discernment to those who ask.

Lord, with your wisdom, give our leaders the courage and conviction to pursue what is good, even when the path is not popular, when the right decision is not the easy one.

Let your voice be the one that sounds loudest above the noise of strong opinions and the feelings of others. Your promised presence means that we have nothing to fear. You are for us, you are with us and you are always in control. Thank you!

Amen

The Lord’s Charge to Joshua

“Be strong and courageous, for you are the one who will lead these people to possess all the land I swore to their ancestors I would give them. Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to obey all the instructions Moses gave you. Do not deviate from them, turning either to the right or to the left. Then you will be successful in everything you do. Study this Book of Instruction continually. Meditate on it day and night so you will be sure to obey everything written in it. Only then will you prosper and succeed in all you do. This is my command—be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”

Joshua 1:6-9
